How much do you spend on body wash or specialty body scrubs every month? Do you know what ingredients are used? Here are some recipes to create your own lip and body scrubs, all natural, and will cost you a fraction of what you now pay! You can make these a few times a month. If stored in a jar/bottle in the shower, they have a shelf life of about three weeks.
When you mix your ingredients, you want your sugar to stick in large clumps, but not be too wet, because of too much oil. You may need to adjust the recipes based on personal preference.
Lemon and Honey Scrub Ingredients 1 cup granulated sugar (or large grain salt, salt is more drying to the skin) 1/4 cup olive oil (can substitute coconut) 2 Tablespoons raw honey 2 tsp dried rosemary (you can buy this in your 'spices' section) 10 drops lemon essential oil (substitute extract to make it edible) 10 drops lavender essential oil (substitute extract or dried lavender) Directions Mix sugar, dried rosemary, olive oil, and raw honey. Add essential oils and stir to combine.
Sweet Vanilla Sugar Scrub Ingredients 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar (I like to use a larger grain) 1/4 cup olive oil (substitute grapefruit, almond, etc. – I love using coconut oil) 2 Tbs honey ¼ tsp pure vanilla extract (or 5 – 10 drops of your favorite essential oil) Directions Mix all ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
Rosemary Lavender Oatmeal Scrub Ingredients 1 cup granulated sugar (I use a larger grain) 1/4 cup coconut oil (or olive, or any substitute you like) 3 tbsp dried rosemary (found in 'spices' section of any grocery store)
3 tbsp dried oats 10 drops lavender oil (you can use lavender extract or dried lavender as a substitute) Directions Mix all ingredients in a bowl, until well combined.
My favorite!!!
Peppermint Mocha Coffee Scrub Ingredients 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup coffee grains 3 tbsp cocoa powder 1/4 cup coconut oil (or any substitute oil) 10 drops peppermint oil (or extract, if you prefer) Directions Mix all infredients in a bowl, until well combined.
